Staff and volunteers

North End Women's Centre offers volunteer opportunities that focus on the current skills of volunteers and the development of new skills. Volunteers are offered opportunities in the following areas:

Board Members set the direction of the Centre by overseeing the programs, policy, personnel, financial, fundraising, capital and assets of North End Women's Centre.

Committee Members support NEWC by working within the Personnel, Finance, Nominating, Fundraising, or Ad Hoc Committees.

Special Event Volunteer positions are usually one time commitments for specific events. These events could include hosting the Annual General Meeting, workshops, trainings, fundraising events, etc.

General Volunteers’ roles are skill specific to the Volunteer. General Volunteer areas can include working in the Up Shoppe, Self Care Days, food preparation, computer training, art/music classes, etc.

Drum Keepers coordinate, participate and facilitate 1 drumming circle per month.

Drumming Group Members meet every week to drum together and perform at public events.

Craft Circle Volunteers meet every week to create crafts for the community.

Volunteer Applications are available at reception at 394 Selkirk Avenue, Winnipeg MB.


Annual memberships are available at NEWC. Associate members are community members and/or agencies who are supportive of NEWC’s philosophy, programs and policies. Full memberships are open to women in the community who are supportive to NEWC’s philosophy, programs and policies and are entitled to attend and vote at the Annual General Meeting, have access to the Centre’s library as well as, receive a quarterly newsletter. Memberships are subject to annual fees and are on a sliding scale.


The North End Women's Centre accepts Student placements to contribute to the development of their skills. The various areas that students have contributed in the past include Counselling, Administration, Child development and Community Economic Development.
