Crisis Counseling is available to women and intervention
is carried out at the Centre. Crisis is solution focused
and women can be referred to other services at the Centre.
Funded By Family Violence Prevention Program
Individual
Counseling is goal focused counseling, which supports
women with a variety of issues. Appointments are available
either short-term or long-term. Short-term is identified
as up to 4 months and long-term is identified as up to 1
year.
Funded By Family Violence Prevention Program
Personal
Advocacy is carried out by workers (Social Change
Agents) of the Centre on behalf of women who are receiving
services from the Centre and request advocacy. This often
involves contact with lawyers, Child and Family Services,
Social Assistance, housing and may address other systemic
barriers identified by women. Advocacy can be viewed as
either case and/or issue advocacy.

The
North End Women's Centre offers and facilitates Open
and Closed Support Groups for women. Open support
groups are considered drop-in style groups that are either
a one time or on-going group that is client-directed and
loosely structured. A closed support group runs for a specific
period of time and has goals to address specific issues.
Group topics are client-directed and may include issues
of parenting, healthy relationships, anger, grief, self-esteem,
etc. All groups offer on-site child minding, bus tickets,
self care basket and refreshments.
