The Up Shoppe

This clothing boutique is a community economic development project that provides quality, gently used women’s formal/business clothing and family clothing and some new accessories at affordable prices; Often at 30% of the cost of other thrift stores The Up Shoppe actively supports the retail revitalization of Selkirk Avenue and the North End as a whole while employing local women to run the business and administer the many programs that the Up Shoppe supports; Fine Option Program; Community Access Program and the Community Wages Program.

Fine Option Program

The Centre’s Fine Option program provides an opportunity for women to work off fines that they have accrued within the criminal justice system. Women are welcome to work in the safe and comfortable environment of the Up Shoppe, and are granted a flexible schedule and access to any services of the North End Women's Centre.

Community Access Program

Women leaving an abusive relationship, recovering from burglary, fire or other economic distress may be referred to the Community Access Program. This program allows qualifying women to obtain family clothing, shoes, small house-wares, blankets, sheets, enfant layettes and towels at no cost a maximum of one time in one year. Women may speak with a Counsellor for a referral to this program, which is operated out of the Up Shoppe (clothing) in conjunction with Oyati Tipi (furniture) and Koats for Kids (winter wear).
