The North End Women's Centre is proud to announce the inaugural launch of
Soul Medicine,
our Moon Drummer's 1st CD.
Having experienced the therapeutic spiritual and emotional healing they
received from Drumming in circle together, in 2001 the Moon Drummers
orchestrated the creation of a set of hand drums that were gifted to the
North End Women's Centre, to carry on behalf of all women in the
community. They were given the name "Soul Medicine Drums", a
self-evident truth. As the Drums were loaned out into the community at
large, the Centre and the Moon Drummers would be asked to participate in
healing events, or to lead workshops. People frequently asked, "Do
you have a tape or CD? How can we do what you're doing?"
"Soul Medicine"
was recorded with love and joy, from our hearts and souls. We are
especially proud to inform you that 2 of the songs recorded on this CD
were created by community women. This project has been an enormous
undertaking, involving many volunteer hours by the Drum Keepers and the
Moon Drummers. It is with full hearts that we offer our grateful thanks
to the Small Grants Fund of Neighbourhoods Alive! for their financial
assistance in this 1st phase of our project; we especially thank our
wonderful anonymous donor for $1000.00 in seed money; we thank the Drum
Keepers for their tireless efforts to bring the CD project to fruition;
and we thank Sunshine Records for their assistance in producing "Soul Medicine".
“Soul Medicine”
is available for sale in the Up Shoppe, located at 382 Selkirk Avenue.
