Initially a volunteer and community driven endeavour that began in 1997, the North End Women's Centre continues to meet the articulated social need of community women to gather and celebrate through music. Drumming at NEWC has evolved as its popularity has expanded. Traditional drum circle is open to women of all cultures, and is complemented by drum-making workshops, performance opportunities, and an environment which fosters personal empowerment and healing through music and community.
